FDA Peptide Vote: What the 503A Recommendation Actually Means

Did the FDA just approve BPC-157, KPV, TB-500 and other peptides?

No—but something important did happen.

During its July 23–24, 2026 meeting, the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee considered seven peptide-related bulk drug substances for the 503A Bulks List. Six—BPC-157, KPV, TB-500, MOTS-C, Semax and Epitalon—received favorable recommendations.

The key distinction: a PCAC recommendation is not FDA drug approval. The committee advises FDA; the agency retains responsibility for the regulatory determination.

The vote is an important development in the compounding discussion, but it does not establish these substances as FDA-approved drugs or represent a general determination of safety and effectiveness.
